About Ken Ackerson

I'm happily divorced in 2004 and starting a new
life with no baggage. The best thing to come out of my past 23 years was my lovely daughter, Kaylin,
who is a Junior at UCF. I try to live life to the fullest on a daily
basis and I'm always looking for my next adventure.

I've always
loved motorcycles and started on my older brother Tim's Allstate moped. He
later got a Vespa scooter that really went fast. I got to ride them mainly
while he was away at school. My first purchase was a Yamaha 100 twin
with oil injection.
I kept that for
awhile but then got into VW bugs and then vans. I eventually wound up with
a Triumph Bonneville for a while and in 1972 I bought a new Yamaha XS 650.
In 1973, I had that bike totalled from a drunk driver in a stolen
car, luckily I didn't get a scratch. Cycle Springs had a left over 1972
red XS 650 that they sold me real cheap and I rode that for over 80,000 miles.
I eventually rebuilt it and while it was apart, I decided to do a few
modifications. You can see the bike in the photo section.
I was offered a trade for a new van in 1975, which I couldn't turn
down, and that was the end of my motorcycling until July 1997, when I bought
a 98 blue and cream Honda Valkyrie. I kept that until October 2003, and
sold it with 78,000 great miles on it. I bought a Yamaha TDM850 in Sept
of 2002 and totaled it on a high side in Nov 2002. I now own two great
bikes, a 03 Vstrom and a 04 FZ1. The Vstrom is still my
favorite.
My other hobbies
include fishing and diving, sailing, hiking, hunting, skiing, tennis, golf, and traveling or anything
with a challenge!

I finally got around
to adding to my web site. It's been too cold to ride or fish so I broke
out the computer to re-learn how to do it. February 19, 2007
Where
to start? I think I'll start with the most important development of my
life, Elia! I met Elia in June of 2005 and we have been together virtually
ever since, except for my Labrador ride. She is a wonderful girl that I
married on May 13, 2006. She loves to everything I do, especially fishing
and riding. I want to get her her own dual-sport soon, but she needs to
learn how to drive first. Elia is a Costa Rican citizen and she grew up
riding buses and taxis like the rest of the people in central valley. As
of January 6, 2007, she has permanent residency status, but we will probably
move to C.R. sometime in the next few years.
Elia has 16 brothers
and sisters and a lovely 19 year old daughter, Andrea. My daughter, Kaylin
is thrilled to finally have a sister! I'm happier than I have ever
been in my life!

I'm
so lucky!

I
have had some serious health issues in 2005. I had 2 surgeries and a redo
of the first one. I won't bore you with the details but I will tell you
that I appreciate everyday and try to enjoy life as much as my finances
allow!
Kaylin has graduated from UCF and will be going back to
school in August 2007 for her masters and she changed fields to Marine
Biology.
I will keep adding as I
can.
